MDF Doors on CNC
2/16/21
Looking at cutting MDF doors on my CNC. I'm not sure I will be making a lot of these so I am trying to find some bits that are a little more affordable than Vortex and GLCT. I saw a CMT kit that looks to only be available in Europe. Has anyone else found a set that works well? I am using Mozaik as my design program.
-Thanks

Why skimp on tooling with MDF. MDF is a material spawned by satan.

Whiteside basically created the MDF (You should be using HDF) door profiles. if you are selling a quality product then Bit life and pathing are a cost of business
A cheaper grade of carbide results in less use, lesscost and less use add upt to same or less cost than the right cost to begin with.

We can help with that. We also have the 1/8 bit used to clean up the corners

Has anyone used the Guhdo or Vortex shaker door bits? I am leaning towards Vortex because of their insert pricing for costs down the road.

I've got one vortex profile set. It's done what I need it to.
Angled inside profiles or square doors I use a mix of Amana and Vortex. Insert and solid carbide.

white side carbide bits are a good starting point, they can be sharpened as well. Insert is the way to go if you are going to produce a lot of mdf doors. I myself have a few white side basic profiles for the old mdf style doors, and insert for shaker doors(we make a lot more mdf shaker doors then raised panel) Vortex, gudho, glct all make excellent insert tooling door sets. I do not think you will be dissapointed with any of them but they are pricey
