Cabinet doors

I am making some shaker style cabinet doors. I'm using MDF for the panels and maple for the frame. They're going to be painted. To get the smoothest finish how should they be painted? And is there a special paint that I need to use? I have access to an airless sprayer.

I think you will have good luck going to the paint department at any Home Depot or Lowe’s, and ask the knowledgeable staff there what they recommend as a good water based primer, and that Behr paint has such good reviews in consumer reports, you can’t go wrong with it.

One of our guys just sprayed some of his doors with a modified alkyd from Home Depot. Pretty nice results.
Rolled the paint on the face frames and cabinets with “flood” paint flow enhancer
