I just purchased a newer model 1255 Holz-her vertical panel saw and am having issues with the quality of cuts, when it comes to edgebanding. I have a larger Bimatic Silence plus bander with almost all the bells and whistles except for pre-mill. My issue is that sometimes I am not getting true perpendicular cuts as I would on my old unisaw. I'm not sure if it is flex of the panel itself when cutting not directly over a grid but for the most part pieces are cut tight to grid and saw is calibrated correctly to yield 90deg cuts.
So the issue is edgebander glue applicator and pressure rollers are not engaging the full face of the panel, and therefore half of the width of edgebanding is not glued.
There appears to be two solutions or paths - adjust edgebander to band out of square cuts (three pressure wheels so maybe one can tilt up and one down and one 90 for), add extra glue with applicator wheel. Another option, add rubber facings to pressure wheels to still apply pressure if not 100% square cut. Secondly, fix the VPS to cut squarely - I am not 100% certain which conditions replicate the out of square cuts so maybe further testing and calibration needed? Most of the pieces cut appear to be close to square and band fine. Never had a problem like this with table saw!
Thanks, Nathan
