Thermally treated hardwood

Do any of you woodwebers have any experience with using heat treated lumber such as Cambia? (http://www.cambiawood.com/) Specifically I want to know if it would fade a lot in color if left unfinished? A little fading is ok. I am not a fan of finishing outdoor furniture as the finish never lasts. If it will keep a semi dark color and not turn silver grey as most woods do outside then it would be a great option. If a finished is used what are you using? Thanks

Sorry to inform you, unless you oil torrified wood it will fade to grey (as we all do) when exposed to the elements. I have been very happy with spraying a water borne oil finish (Cabot Australian Oil) with a conventional cup gun on wood intended for outdoors. No wiping necessary. The key is to not apply too much finish. Two years on the wood has rich color.

Thanks for the info Tom. When you say not too much finish are you doing 1 coat to seal it, then sand and final thin coat or something else?
