Can CV be sprayed over pre-cat lacquer?
If not, what steps need to be taken to prepare for cv. I have a piece I built some time ago that is showing wear and need a more durable finish on it.

Nope. Strip it to bare wood and then spray with CV. otherwise, just clean, scuff, clean and respray with Lacquer.

General rule is never spray a harder finish over a softer one.
