Is there any degradation of solar kiln effectiveness if the glass used is an opaque glass such as found in shower stalls? It is still a clear glass, but one surface tends to diffuse light.

Yes there is, as such glass transmits perhaps 80% of the light. On the other hand, all this means is that it will take you 20% longer to dry. If you are in a hurry, then solar drying is not what you want, anyway.
