Question (WOODWEB Member) :
Gene, can you advise the best way to saw for plain/flat sawing? I’m getting ready to cut some cherry and prefer plain/flat sawing to get the best boards for chests, dressers, etc.

This is the best way to flat saw or get plain sawn lumber. It is called grade sawing or sawing around. Note that you will get some wide pieces, so rotate the sawing pattern so that those faces will be the best faces. Otherwise you will get lower grade wide pieces.
