I am trying to flatten a piece of mahogany crotch. Does anyone have a formula for a wetting solution?

Marc Adams (a fantastic woodworking instructor in Indiana) recommends on his marquetry video (a great video) to use:
1 part glycerine
1 part denatured alcohol
2 parts white glue
4 parts distilled water
I have had success with this combination.
