XP is now unsupported and NC1000 software only runs on XP. How are people handling the fact that the systems are now a security issue?
We need it on the network but I am a bit concerned.

Just don't let it have internet access.

Talked to Biesse, XP is supported for the machine controllers because it is so stable. I agree, we have it on the network, but it is only online for webex with Biesse.
I am having a RAID out in next week, and have one on the office pc's that we draw and send code from Cabinet Vision. Yes, those are Windows 7.

As long as your XP machine doesn't go the the internet, there is not a problem. I am continuing to use XP on2 of my machines as they never go to the internet.
This info is from my hardware geek, that I don't need to update them if they are working fine.

Not connecting it to the internet is a problem for me. I use remote control software to support the machine when I am out of the office. Thats the only time we use the internet on the machine.
The argument that XP is stable doesn't hold water for me as Win 7 is just as or more stable.
To make matters worse the NC1000 software requires that I turn off the firewall on that machine.

Windows 7 doesn't support some of the stuff that XP does

Use a hardware firewall block access to every address but Biesse and you, don't allow a browser to go anywhere on the internet but Biesse support, don't allow the PC to update. We have a 3 year old Selco, its the same issue.

do you have a second network card installed in the control -pc
one fore cnc, the other for the network
that will give you more possibility's
I have that, now I need to find how to have a firewall that will ignore all traffic to/from cnc
