My Shop Built Router Table

Listing #52   Listed on: 08/29/2011

This is a router table built from plans from one of the woodworking magazines with a few enhancements. The body is built from 3/4" MDF and it's surprisingly sturdy and strong. The top is a piece of 1/2" plate steel from a local steel yard. I took it to the local grinder and had it flattened on both sides to within .005ths. Then on to the local machine shop where they bored out a hole for a Bench Dog router lift, a place on the front to put a miter bar and rounded the corners so I didn't impale myself. The router itself is a Porter Cable 7518 3 1/4 HP and it provides all the power I could possibly need. All the dust is collected in the closed cabinet area below the table and all I need to do after the work is finished is open up the doors from either side and vacuum it out and wheel it away on the HTC mobile base! The fence is a plan from the same woodworking magazine and ait's tall enough to handle just about any project I've thrown at it. It's the sweetest router table set up I've seen yet and the total price from beginning to end was about $1200.
