Air coping sled

This is one of ten or so I have built over the years I work in a shop that has 2 of these working flawless for years one was built about 5years ago and one about 8. The one in the photo was built at a shop owner about a month back I had all the parts machined by local machine shop all the others where made on table saw and router and drillpress, I will try in a few days to post a video of one in operation and more pictures. Does the table return with the cut part or does it release before returning?

Sure looks cumbersome to use. Does it ride on a cushion of air? Why such large air cylinders.
