R M Smith Lumber

Smith Lumber is located at the base of the Shade Mountain. The site was chosen in 1909 by Daniel, Lucian and Banks Smith (father, son and grandson) to locate their new steam-powered Frick Mill. Today, Banks's grandson, Roy, and his wife Nancy still saw in the same serene location on the headwaters of Cocolamus Creek, at the end of Slim Valley, although with Diesel power replacing the steam. While the mill still produces the railroad ties that were the lifeblood of the first mill, along with cabinet grade lumber and pallet cants, providing unusual items to woodworkers is now the mills focus. They also sell sawdust to local farmers, slab and round wood for heating, and provide logging services. This mill is one of the last of what once seemed an endless number of these small, family mills that were literally around every corner of central Pennsylvania.

I am looking for a butternut wood board for relief carving. A piece 2" depth by 6"wide. The length needs to be at least 12".
Do you have any such boards?

Nancy, i purchased a walnut gunstock blank from you guys on ebay. I am coming from ashland schuylkill county. If you could give me directions , i would appreciate it. Im not sure where McAlisterville is located. What is located near it ,in the immediate area, large towns or highways, Please email me with some directions so i can pickup the stock blank . Also do you have any black walnut ,say 3 in. thick by 12in. wide by 48 to 60 in. in length. Hope to hear from you soon. Thanks Bill Noble.
