Hello Gia, I am building my bandsaw and need help/advice on running 7.5hp 3 phase 1760 rpm 230 volt electric motor? Here’s the problem, first I would like to run a 10hp motor 3 phase but I would need to get a 10 hp rotary phase converter and a second 10hp 3phase motor. Would this be ok? (over heating?) or should I get a 7.5 hp 3 phase motor to run off the 10hp phase converter? and if I do get a 7.5 hp motor is it big enough to rip through say a 24" log? Second to get 2x the rpms would it harm the motor to run say a 10" pulley on the motor to a 4" pulley on the load shaft? if any one has some knowledge/experience on this I would surely appreciate it. thanks bek

Hey Bek., I am not too famillar with 3 phase stuff for I don't have access to it where I live. i do know you will want as much HP as you can get. What size band wheels are you running. you need to match your HP to your wheel size. Are you building this mill from scratch or is this a kit. I have a friend who owns Linn Lumber who may be able to assist you in matching your power to speed ratios. Let me know. Gia

Wow. I just finished looking at the pictures on your website. Very cool and impressive. I might have some larger logs that I want slabbed. I will call when I'm ready.
