These beautiful pieces are unique and hard to find. They are family heirlooms passed down to our client who wanted them restored for a family member's new DC apartment.
When they arrived, the finish was completely worn in some areas. They have very beautiful veneer & inlay but it is very thin and fragile. There were some missing veneers in a few areas as well.
From the start, we knew that these pieces needed some extra care... After hand stripping the finish, cleaning and sanding, you could really see the beauty of the grain. After showing a few stain options, our client decided to go with a beautiful Mahogany finish which really brought out the depth of the wood and the contrasting tones in grain.
After applying the sealer and sanding it down, we had a smooth, even surface that was ready for the topcoat.
We used a high-quality non-yellowing lacquer. We used 3 coats on these pieces to be sure they had the protection they needed. The results turned out fantastic.
