Another design/build project constructed here at our Tahoe city shop.
It is a single slab measuring 3"x42"x96". The trestle is one of Finishing Touch Carpentry's signature designs,with it's radius steel plates and hand forged lags. Complete with matching live edge bench seats.
The table trestle and bench posts are from reclaimed barn beams. The top of the table has been completely, hand wire brushed and the blue metal stains were left to give it a more rustic feel.

Is it just the photo or has that slab "moved"?Common problem if it has. Looks good have to take a stab at that myself.

We've had our fair of tweaked pieces , no doubt. But this perticar oak slab faired very well to this day.
The idea was to keep end cuts irregular and and rather in keeping with original sawers cuts.
Theirs was a very rustic piece.... But still dead flat.

I love the base. Adding iron with the oak is a nice touch. Nice and massive. Part on the floor looks a touch narrow? You must be okay. Working with those large slabs is a lot of work. I did a walnut one for myself this summer. Table looks great.

The metal plates are rather large and heavy..
this combined with the solid timbers we use for our posts and trestle pieces add an immense amount of weight creating a serious center of gravity..
