Jamie, you mentioned in one of your painted kitchen posts that you had outsourced the final finishing for that job. Do you do all of the finishing on stained jobs?
Yes I do Russell. When I first started 3 years I did out source the final brush finish on my painted jobs but now I do it all start to finish. Painted kitchens I spray in the shop 1 prime coat and 1 finish coat then a brush coat on site after install for the customers that want the brush look. Stained jobs are stained and 2 coats of clear in the shop and then installed refinished. Thanks for looking.
*prefinished. Not refinished. Lol.
Jamie, what's your finishing schedule for stained jobs? I sand everything to 180 and then shoot one coat of Target's sanding sealer. I knock the grain down with some 320 and then stain and topcoat. I'm always interested in what others do, especially on stained work.
I just sand to 120 with a danabrade 5" sander then stain with a good oil base stain (beckers)then a coat of water base clear, then sand 220 then another coat of clear. it turns out great with no sanding marks!
