Bar Stools

I built my own kitchen cabinets and pictures will be posted once I finish up some details. We wanted bar stools for the center island and went searching online and at stores. I was astonished at the prices and what you got. So I thought I would build my own and save a dollar....well you all know how that works out. I saved a buck and invested countless hours. I think I ended up with a nice final product. I made the top like barrel staves to have the grain running with the legs. I carved the legs and the panels. Each panel has the initial of one of my kitchen helpers. I did the iron work with the help of a blacksmith buddy. I also did the upholstery - my first attempt at that kind of work.

What did you use to fasten the ironwork to the legs? It looks awesome!!

Thanks for the kind comments. I need to tile the backsplash areas before I can post pictures. If you can make the snow melt up this way so I can set up the tile saw on my deck I will have at it. I also need to finish trim around one window. Kind of burnt out on the entire project so I am waiting for nicer weather to get back at it. On the iron work - the ends have a plate welded to them with two holes. They each mate up to the legs. I then used #10 threaded rod with acorn nuts to try and make the part look as nice as possible. Heat treated the nuts so they turned the color of the iron work. So the threaded rod connects iron piece to iron piece with holes drilled through the legs. Very solid.
