This chair is one of a set of six I recently completed. The wood is Canarywood and the design is one I've made several prototypes of and this chair is the result. I've always been intrigued about using an open dovetail like this on a chair stretcher. An outdoor bench that I made several years ago has held up fine. Gorilla Glue is used to secure this joint. The back is laminated from four pieces of Canarywood, they are fitted to the back then I used epoxy and a screw to secure them. This was covered with a button of ebony, and ebony is also used for the pegged tenon. The finish is natural Danish Oil followed by many hand rubbed coats of a blend of polyurethane, boiled linseed oil, and turpentine which is applied with wet/dry sandpaper.
