Summary:
Luttrell Architectural Woodworks is a high end, custom architectural woodwork shop and has over 30 years of experience delivering high-end projects. Due to an upcoming retirement, we are seeking an experienced and dedicated leader to fill our Shop Manager position. The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in custom woodworking, demonstrate excellent leadership skills, and have the ability to manage, motivate and mentor a team of skilled craftsmen.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee daily shop operations including:
o Production
o Quality control
o Safety program
o Employee training / mentorship
o Machine and building maintenance
• Hire, train, and cultivate a high-performing, cohesive team.
• Identify areas for improvement and develop strategic plans to address them.
• Ensure a safe, organized and compliant work environment.
• Maintain and enforce standard operating procedures across departments.
• Open and close the shop daily
• Communicate regularly with Project Managers to align production schedules and priorities
• Provide insights on shop drawings, construction techniques and job planning
• Oversee the delegation of tasks within the shop to ensure efficient workflow
• Ensure production is completed safely, efficiently and in a timely manner.
• Oversee quality control checks at various phases of production
• Review shop drawings and inspect completed work for adherence to job specifications and standards
• Monitor labor hours and verify timesheets for accuracy
Requirements:
• Prior shop management experience within a custom architectural woodwork environment is essential
• Demonstrate work habits that set a positive example for the team
• Commitment to fostering a culture of continuous improvement and learning
• Ability to create a professional work environment that engages and motivates employees
• Expertise in cabinetmaking, woodworking and related processes, including melamine, veneer, laminates, glue and dowel assembly
• Knowledge of wood shop equipment, including CNC machinery, moulder and traditional tools
• Familiarity with nested based CNC manufacturing processes
• Experience with staining and finishing cabinets and architectural woodwork
• Knowledge of AWI / QCP quality standards
• Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
